Casual Friday

Many offices these days have “Casual Friday”. Employers relax the dress code a bit and allow more casual clothing as office wear. Instead of your power suit, you toss on your favorite jeans and casual shirt and spend the day in comfort. But what about your makeup?

Just because it’s “casual” Friday doesn’t mean you want to look as if you just rolled out of bed, but full-tilt makeup may look out of place with your casual attire. Here are some tips for looking great but not out of place.

Foundation: Use a light, sheer base to even out skin tones and hide blotchiness. Choose the shade that most nearly matches your own skin color.

Blush: Definitely a day for looking healthy but not made-up. Lightly brush some color over the apples of your cheeks for a little healthy glow but don’t overdo.

Eyes: If you use shadow, make it neutral. It’s okay to push a little into the crease to make your eyes look deeper but don’t go for a dramatic look. To keep your makeup simple and quick, you can let your blush double as an eyeshadow. Use eyeliner only if your lashes are sparse and eyes need the definition and even then, top lid only. Definitely use mascara to define lashes and open the eyes.

Lips: Bright red will scream and be out of place with your casual look. Go for lighter shades or try something neutral. Use a liplining pencil to apply color to your whole lip and top with an application of clear gloss for lip color that doesn’t need constant reapplication and won’t wear off.
