Maybelline Line Stylist

Maybelline’s Line Stylist eyeliner has become my favorite eyeliner pencil in my makeup bag. For a pencil, it creates a very fine line. You can make the line a thick as you like, however, it’s the precision that makes this pencil unique. It’s also safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Line Stylist comes in 8 shades. Basic colors are included but so are shades such as Plum Shimmer, Jade Flash and Bronze Gleam. Mine is Sapphire Glimmer so obviously not a color I would wear every day. I guess I will just have to pick up a couple more…

Waking Up a Tired Face

For most women today, life is busy and way overscheduled. Too many days and nights of burning the candle at both ends and too little sleep can result in puffy eyes and dark undereye circles.

Awake

To wake up the tired face and get the eyes ready to look out on another morning, end your morning cleansing routine with a refreshing toner. This will tighten pores, moisturize and revitalize your skin - leaving it ready for your makeup application.

For puffy eyes, one of my favorite products is Mary Kay’s Indulge Soothing Eye Gel. Keep this little pot of gel in the fridge and when you apply it to tired, puffy eyes they will immediately feel refreshed. The botanical formula reduces puffiness and improves the skin’s firmness and elasticity.

To hide dark circles, use a salmon or yellow-based concealer. Then just apply your foundation and usual makeup and you will feel and look alive!

Perfume Art

It’s Wednesday. We are halfway through the work week, and if you are like me, needing a break. So I am taking one today and I am not going to talk about the best way to apply eyeliner or the newest advances in lipstick. Today I am going to tell you about my secret obsession: perfume bottles.

I am definitely the kind who might buy a perfume just for the pleasure of having the bottle sit upon my shelf or dressing table. I seldom indulge because collecting perfume bottles could turn into an expensive habit especially if you find you don’t care for the fragrance they contain.

Perfume designers put just as much creative energy into the packaging of their product as they do the scent itself. Some perfume bottles could be considered works of art. For instance, how about Dali Style by Salvadore Dali?

Dali

Kingdom by Alexander McQueen, with its crystal heart turned upside-down makes a statement all its own.

Kingdom

I love the sporty and fun patterns of the Burberrys Brit perfumes - set on a blocky bottle they tell you: this fragrance is for someone adventurous and fun, but grounded and practical. I like the Burberry Brit Red and Burberry Brit Gold bottles too.

Brit

Angel by Thierry Mugler is elegant and delicate, a crystalline object from the heavens. Choosing just one of Thierry Mugler’s bottles would be a problem, they are all so interesting in their design.

These are my yearnings for this morning. I wonder if Santa is reading this?

Yellow Nails

Have you ever removed your nail polish to find that the nails underneath had turned yellow?

Typically, dark or red shades of nail polish can stain nails due to the yellow pigments in the color. If you favor red shades and tend to leave your polish on for long periods of time without changing the color, you may find that your nails have taken on a yellowish tint.

Nails

So, what to do? You can try rubbing hydrogen peroxide on the nails with a cotton ball to take some of the yellow off. You can also leave your nails natural and unpolished and eventually the yellow will grow out. You don’t have to give up your favorite shade of nail polish but you do need to apply a base coat to keep the polish from staining your nails. Even a coat of clear polish applied under the color will do the trick.

Sometimes yellow nails can be caused by health problems. If you have left your nails unpolished and they continue to grow in with a yellow tint, seek the advice of a health professional.
