Is it just me, or do these bags bear a striking resemblance to the current “bra purse” fad?

Dark Roots

There used to be an old joke that went:
“You have the prettiest blonde hair. Why’d you dye the roots black?”

Well, it had to happen. The newest hair trend is dark roots. Jessica Simpson has been seen wearing her roots long and in contrast, but Jessica started letting the roots grow for a movie role. It seems she likes the look and lots of celebrity bleached-blondes are following in her footsteps and letting their roots grow out. In fact, some are having the roots dyed to a richer color for more contrast.

I don’t expect this trend will last long, but consider it a free ticket to let your hair coloring appointment go a few more weeks. You will be fashionable with those dark roots and a little rest for your hair from the harsh chemicals can only be a good thing.

New Look for Brows

The new look in eyebrows is….natural. Fuller brows instead of skinny and softer arches instead of sharp angles are beginning to be sported by fashion and magazine models. This look was hot once before, back in the days when Brooke Shields introduced the world to her natural bushy eyebrow look. I am not sure this trend will last long, but here’s what you need to achieve the look.

The first step is easy - pluck less. You are still going to need to shape the brow and pluck strays but since you want to follow the natural arch and make the brow a little thicker, you won’t need to work as hard at it.

But you will need some essential items, both to fill in brows until they grow in and to manage them and make them look groomed and neat. Here are some important items to pick up:

* A good eyebrow pencil or shadow and brush to fill in empty spots and give you an even line.

* Eyebrow brush and scissors to brush brows and trim long hairs

* Clear or tinted brow gel. Choose a tint that matches your haircolor but not exactly. Gel will also help set your eyebrows and keep them looking well-groomed throughout the day.

Ponytails are Newest Hair Trend

A ponytail is one of the easiest and quickest to create hairstyles. Ponytails are making a big comeback this year, being worn by some of the most visible stars and celebs.

Ponytails can be worn high or low, back center, off center or to the side. They can be styled for long, sleek hair or soft curls that fall sensuously about the shoulders. Hair that is day-old actually works better for styling a ponytail so they are twice as time-saving.

Ponytail holders can be made into a fun accessory, but no scrunchies, they have definitely gone out of style. Instead, today’s ponytail holders are less bulky, but come in expressive styles and colors. Or, leave some of your hair out of the ponytail elastic and use it as a wrap around.

For a sophisticated version of a ponytail, don’t wind the elastic too close to the scalp but instead, place it a few inches down the hair shaft. Then, with your two thumbs make a “hole” in the hair above the elastic and flip the ponytail through the hole. Slide a hairstick into the center to add a little pizazz.
