Molten Metal for Eyes

Metallics are everywhere this spring, in fashion, shoes, accessories and even on eyes. Adding a little metallic shine can be as easy as adding a belt, silver or gold shoes, a handbag. Why not add a little electrifying metallic glow to your face as well with the shimmer and shine of a metallic eyeshadow?

Revlon’s Molten Metal Liquid Eyeshadow comes in some great subtle metallic shades as well as the expected gold and silver. I love the names they have given the color choices: Gold Digger, Bronze Bomber, Copper Crush, Platinum Pinup, Scene Steeler and Tarnished. These luminous colors give metallic shine without being glitzy or obvious but definitely draw attention.

The liquid formula is easy to blend and more than one shade can be worn at once to create depth. The pigments mix in a crytal clear liquid when you shake the tube. Application is simple and because it’s a liquid, easier to control than powder shadow.

My favorite right now is Tarnished, a light gold-brown that has the appearance of buffed brass, not too shiny but with a definited metallic look.

Molten Metal Liquid Eyeshadow is one of the products in Revlon’s Limited Edition Collection.

My Colorstay Eyeliner

When I find a product I like, I tend to stick with it. Usually it’s because the product is easy to apply, produces a good effect and stays where I put it for a good portion of the day so I don’t have to reapply or fix it later.

My Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner is one of those products. For a while I was a fan of liquid eyeliners because they flow so nicely - but it’s too easy to make a sweeping mistake and then it’s hard to remove that black line trailing up over your eyebrow. The Revlon pencil works well and is easier than liquid for several reasons.

It’s soft. Pencils are often hard and can’t be applied dry without being too rough on delicate eyelids. My Colorstay eyeliner pencil makes it easy to draw a line or just dot in between lashes for a more subtle effect.

The tip is always sharp. You just have to twist the wand to advance the eyeliner color so that you always have a new supply. There’s no looking for the right sized sharpener or scratching your lid with the pencil wood.

Colorstay does stay all day and doesn’t end up all smudged making me look like I have a black eye. That’s the main thing, it does what you expect it to, what the name promises.

Colorstay comes in 8 shades. My two favorites are the brown, which is very rich and straight black, which has a deep, velvety color.

Long Lasting and Smudge-proof Lipsticks

Lipstick looks great until you eat or drink coffee and it becomes wiped-off, smudged-off and well… gone. I personally hate that tell-tale red crescent moon on my coffee cup. Before kisses, even my six-year-old son asks “are you wearing lipstick”? Even at that age, males don’t want to wear your lip color. Regardless of what makeup we forego, lipstick is one of the basics that transform your look. Still, lipstick’s tendency to be transferred to anything our lips touch and the need for constant reapplication throughout the day makes it difficult to maintain.

Why not try one of the long-lasting, smudge-proof lipsticks? There are a few on the market but I am going to recommend Revlon’s Colorstay Soft and Smooth Lipcolor. The color palette includes 36 shades meaning there is one for nearly everybody. The color lasts for hours, meaning less time spent re-applying and you won’t have to hand out a tissue with every kiss.

The main complaint women have regarding all smudge-proof lipcolors is that they tend to feel drier on the lips. The different feel from oil-based lipsticks does take some getting used to but it’s worth it for color that won’t need to be reapplied so often. If you want a glossy rather than a matte finish, Revlon makes Colorstay Overtime Lip Color with a 99% moisture topcoat. Both last up to 8 hours.

Revlon’s Colorstay retails for under $10 at most drug and department stores.
