False Eyelashes

False eyelashes are making a comeback. In the heyday of Hollywood glamor, false eyelashes were a necessary part of makeup for the femme fatales. In the last few decades, however, you rarely saw false eyelashes except on the runway, worn by high-fashion models. But false eyelashes for special occasions are becoming more popular and you can get them done professionally, just as you have your hair done for a special event.

False eyelashes

Applying your own false eyelashes is not as hard as it may look. A steady hand and some preparation will render glamorous results.

There are full lashes and individual lashes. Individual lashes can be applied just to fill in sparse areas and give the lashes a fuller but natural look. For the fullest and most glamourous look, use a full lash.

Before applying the lash, apply a dark eyeliner and smudge it slightly to help mask the lash band. Measure the lash band and if it is too long, now is the time to trim it so that it follows your natural lash line. Place a tiny amount of glue on a fingertip and slide the lash band over it. Place the lash band as close to the base of your lashes as possible. Then starting at the outer corner of your eye and working in, gently press the lash band to adhere. Once the adhesive is dry, curl your lashes. You probably don’t need mascara but you can apply it if you prefer.

To apply individual lashes, dip the end of the lash in the adhesive, position at the base of the lash line and press. You will probably only need 2 or 3 lashes to fill in the lash line and make the lashes fuller.

To make lash removal easier, apply a little makeup remover. When it has had a few moments to loosen the glue, gently pull the lash off. If they don’t come easily, try a warm, moist washcloth on the lash for a couple of minutes.

The look of false eyelashes is probably not for every day at the office and wearing them too often could lead to irritation from the glue or infections. Keep your false eyelashes clean and store them in the container they came in and you should be able to use them over and over.

Puffy Eyes

What really works to reduce puffiness under eyes? For years the rumor has been that models use Preparation H to shrink puffiness under the eye area. The makers of Preparation H make no such claim and in fact, the ingredient that was supposed to effect this shrinkage, yeast, is no longer included in the formula.

Cucumber eyes

The old home treatments of tea bags and cucumbers do work to an extent. Soak tea bags in cold water before applying one to each eye. Tea acts as an astringent to reduce the fluid in the tissue. Or slice up a cuke and settle back with a couple of slices over your eyes. Another option is to use potato slices. If nothing else, you will feel relaxed and refreshed.

Puffiness under the eyes could be the sign of a medical condition(high blood pressure or allergies for instance), water retention or just genetics. If your doctor has told you they are not the result of any health problem, then basically you just have fluid trapped in the tissue under the eye. Avoid excessive intake of salt (which causes bloating), drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and try one of the traditional home remedies.
